  • April 6: "Looking Into Your Family Tree", with Steve King. This beginners' class touches on where to start looking into your family genealogy. Steve will) touch on the types of records and sources available; will show you how to get started on research and how to utilize family group sheets and pedigree charts.

  • April 20: “Finding and Utilizing Land Records” with Janet Cottrell. Property deeds, mortgages, and other legal instruments filed in county courthouses are the superheroes of genealogy. They may appear to be mild-mannered, but once unleashed they can demolish brick walls. Join Janet as she explains just how powerful these documents can be in your genealogical search for your Ancestors.

  • May 4: “Photography in a Cemetery” with Ron Hardy. Pictures are a wonderful way to document graveyards, from scenic views of the cemetery, to inscriptions of individual tombstones. It isn't always as easy as it seems, however, to achieve sharp, clear photographs of stones that may be centuries old. That old stone may be easy enough to read when you're standing just a few feet away, but capturing its three dimensional carving and inscriptions on a flat picture sometimes takes a bit of work. Ron will have some great tips for us.

Sat, May 18: “What’s In Your Genealogy Gadget Bag?” with Dorothy Becknell. Join Dorothy as she delves into her GGG Bag (gad-about  genealogy gadgets bag). She will talk about cameras, scanners, video cameras, digital recorders,  digital tablets,  and a few surprises you may not have thought about. If you have a gadget bag, bring it along to the class and share your essential tools for a “genealogy run”.
