The Tulsa County Marriage books began in November
1907. Individual Marriage Records consist of four sections: The
Application, the Consent (if the groom was under 21 or the bride was
under 18 years of age), the License and the Return by the Marriage
Official.
Each section of the original 11" x 17.5" record has
been extracted, with the Groom's name, his age and residence, the
bride's name and location of the wedding, along with consents as
needed, and any note containing extra information (coded with a number
which corresponds to a Notes Index listing). The Bride's section
includes her age and residence, the Groom's name and the witnesses
with their places of residence. A final column indicates a number
which corresponds to the wedding official, listed with the name and
title in the Officials Index. Often, family relationships are
identified in the consents and are potentially realized among the
witnesses. On this page, each series is divided into five sets of two
books with 2 indices.
Dates of each set is included. There is an alpha listing by the
groom's name and an alpha listing by the bride's name.
Both groom and bride are listed in each index. Each listing will have
a book number and page number.
Copies of individual records may be requested from The Tulsa
Genealogical Society Research, who will obtain a copy and return it
to you by mail. Please request a Marriage Record copy by giving the
important names and by book and page numbers.
These indices are provided in the hopes of making your search easier and
more productive. Our thanks to our transcriptionis: Linda Talbot
Brown, Charles Catlin, Arlene C. Huerter Crawford, Fay Rene Irwin
Hanks, and Reneé Devin King.
